My name is Muthahari Insani, though I’m more often known by my pen name, Sweeneypen. I’m a full-time Visual Artist and Illustrator, originally from Cimahi and currently based in Semarang, where I work as a freelancer. My journey into illustration began in 2007, coinciding with my studies in Visual Communication Design in Bandung. Since then, I’ve devoted myself to creating across two mediums: traditional and digital. My work is characterized by line art and engraving-inspired illustrations a meticulous exploration of detail that not only renders form but also evokes feeling. This style was born alongside my first pen, which later lent its name to my artistic identity: Sweeneypen. Along my creative path, I’ve experimented with various materials, watercolor, graphite, and even oil paints but the line has always been my home: a space of return, of reflection, and of building a visual language that feels most honest. This style has grown organically, shaped by time and by an intimate relationship with my tools whether traditional or digital. To me, every line is more than a technique; it’s a personal trace, a visual fingerprint that captures emotion, intuition, and presence. I believe that every person has their own line and from that line, authenticity begins, takes root, and continues to grow. It is this deep belief in the power of personal character that forms the foundation of my practice, especially in this era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), where character has become a value more vital than ever.
